How Minutemen Property Damage Services Works with Your Insurance Company
We're Here to Help Navigate Your Claim
Dealing with property damage is stressful enough—understanding the insurance process shouldn't add to your worries. At Minutemen Property Damage Services, we work directly with insurance companies every day. We're here to guide you through each step and advocate for your best interest.
How the Insurance Claims Process Works
1. Emergency Response & Mitigation When disaster strikes, your first call should be to us. We'll immediately begin emergency mitigation to prevent further damage—whether that's water extraction, board-up services, or tarping. These rapid response actions are typically covered by your insurance policy and can save thousands in additional damage. Majority of insurance policies indicate that the homeowner has a right to take action to prevent any secondary damages so it's important to move fast when disaster strikes.
2. Documentation & Assessment We thoroughly document all damage following the IICRC industry guidelines with detailed photos, moisture readings, and comprehensive reports. This documentation is crucial for your insurance claim and ensures nothing is overlooked. Our team provides insurance companies with everything they need to feel like they are in the home with us inspecting the damage and making the repairs.
3. Filing Your Claim Contact your insurance company as soon as possible to report the damage. We can assist with this call if needed. Your insurer will assign a claims adjuster to assess the damage.
4. Insurance Adjuster Visit Typically, the field adjuster will inspect your property to determine coverage. We'll meet with them on-site to ensure all damage is properly identified and documented. Our experience helps catch issues that might otherwise be missed.
5. Estimate & Approval We'll provide a detailed restoration estimate. Your insurance company will review it against their adjuster's assessment. We work directly with adjusters to address any discrepancies and ensure you receive fair coverage.
6. Restoration Work Once approved, we begin restoration immediately. We handle the repairs while managing all communication with your insurance company throughout the process.

Common Insurance Questions
Will my rates go up if I file a claim? This depends on your policy and claim history. However, failing to properly restore damage can lead to bigger problems and costs down the road.
What if the insurance estimate is too low? We advocate for you. If we discover the initial estimate doesn't cover necessary repairs, we'll document the additional damage and work with your adjuster on a supplement.
How much will the total claim cost? It depends. Some losses are very inexpensive and some damage the entire home. The average claim value in 2023 was $20,062 for all residential losses (includes fire and storm damage as well).
How long does the process take? Claim approval typically takes 7-14 days, though complex claims may take longer. Restoration timelines vary based on damage extent, but we'll provide a clear schedule once approved.
What if my claim is denied? We'll help you understand why and can provide additional documentation to support an appeal. In some cases, a public adjuster may be beneficial.
